What are awning windows?
Traditionally, awning windows are an ‘outside’ window, meaning they are installed in conjunction with other windows and they open out. The hinges for the window are on the top of the frame and the window opens from the bottom. This allows the windows to catch a breeze and channel it to the desired location and it can be open when it rains for ventilation without water leaking in. Awning windows are considered a privacy window and are generally installed on walls that are higher up than other types of windows and they are easy to open and close.

Awning windows come with some distinct advantages for a homeowner that can’t be discounted when you are purchasing new windows for your home. The first advantage is weatherproofing, as mentioned previously. They keep rain water out when open because they open from the top and can direct airflow, increasing ventilation.
Typically, awning windows are smaller in size than most windows and they can be a great insurer of privacy for your home. Stage offers larger standard sizes due to the use heavy duty Roto Hardware and two corner drives in the corners. Installed higher on a wall, they don’t compromise privacy or safety while providing a great deal of natural light and air- flow. Awning windows make for great additions in bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchens, positioned over sinks or counters in the kitchen for airflow and privacy.
Awning windows offer a design flexibility that other windows don’t, they can be installed higher up on walls, and they can be aligned in interesting patterns that improve the public face that your home exhibits with the design and installation of awning windows.
